Hi everyone. Since the tittle is exercise I wanna mention how important is to exercise. I havent done my surgery yet but hope to be soon...maybe next month. Today I went to a meeting at WLS center at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Mass..and we spoke about exercise. How important it is not only for ur health but also to keep u motivated. And to those who thinks about cosmetic surgery after WLS, exercise is good because you will burn more fat and create muscle tone. You can tone ur butt, thights, abs and arms. I struggled with weight ever since 15(today am 26). I have always exercised but always was gaining and loosing weight. Now I totally decided to do the WLS. I still exercise because it makes me feel great, I sleep better, I enjoy my lifestyle better. So I tell you all start by little by little, but yes EXERCISE ALWAYS!!!

Wow thanks Danni! You're inspiring me to really do something regarding exercise. I am just over a month post op and haven't really done anything but go for walks (also not every day I have to admit).

I have been feeling not the best and really struggled the first 3 weeks. It's tough to get through all the musts and mustnts and trying to get in Vitamins and all the Water and the exact food whilst struggling with head hunger as well - plus I am having some battles with my Insurance and it is calls and emails - BLAH!

Anyhoo I couldn't really face exercise as well.

But now that I read your post I realized you know, I have to make a plan and get structured exercise in now. This is the optimal time to lose weight now and I mustn't screw it up!

There are so many thousands and thousands of people who so desperately need this surgery but won't ever be in the position to be able to get it. And I thus also owe it to myself to make the most of it.

Tomorrow I will start serious planning to do this thing!

I just want to thank you!

And good luck! Please do let me know how you are progressing and when you'll go for your surgery, I want to cheer you on!

Kind greetings from South Africa

Obeasta

Hi...u are welcome. I cant wait till the 12th to go in see my doctor again. I cannot wait to see myself thinner, smaller size clothes and not only just that but be able to walk in a store and not look first at what size they carry. I wanna be able to be in the style. Yes, I will admit this week I have been struggling with allergy from the pollen in Massachussetts, and for that reason I havent exercised once. I have been sleepy, tired, lazy, and even the want for sexual relatioship with my husband has droppe. I am telling you and I sure want you to tell me how you felt after you went in to a gym exercised for about 2hr(60min cardio and 60 min lifting weights and abs). You will feel GREAT!!! I know because I have experienced it. You sleep gets soooo much better. Plus what better way to love your body more. Exercise plays a BIG role in our healthy living.

I will let you know as soon as I have a date. I have been practicing alot of things, such as eating slower, smaller portions, taking my Vitamins, eating more Proteins, veggies and fruits. I feel better. I do have to admit I have been strugling just to think about cutting the caffeine. Ohhh boy!!!

Dont stress about ur insurance, you will get threw it and in the end you will look at yourself and say "I look amazinhg and thats what matter"

And yes...there are tons of people who wished to have this surgery....others just prefer to be fat.

Good luck!!

Dani

went cold turkey on caffeine. OMG the withdrawal headaches lasted about a week and just stopped. The tiredness kind of stayed around until after surgery the Iron supplements worked wonders.

I have been drinking coffee since I was a little kid. I NEVER thought I could give up the caffeine. I started out with 1/2 regular and 1/2 decalf. I never had headaches. After a month or so I switched to all decalf. It wasn't too bad. After my surgery, I tried a cup of decalf. I hated it. So now, I don't drink coffee at all. I do love the smell, but I have no cravings for it. Weird.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
