I know that if you have the Tomato Soup you can count that to your liquids. But, how much Tomato Soup should you have at one time? Does that count as eating also. I've very confused about this.

Surgery Date: May 2, 2013 - Amount Lost: 22lbs

I have Tomato Soup all the time! I get the Campbell's Healthy Request Soup at Hand thingamabobs. I can drink a whole one over the course of 45 minutes to an hour and it's my lunch.< /p>

I love creamy Tomato Soup !!! I ate it all the time. You surgeon should have given you some directions on how many ounces etc. to have with each meal etc. When I was on liquids only right after surgery I would have about 1/2 cup of Soup with some yogurt and that was one of my meals. I did not count soup as a liquid even though I could have. I would not go crazy trying to figure out if its a liquid or a meal, there are not that many ounces to make that much of a difference. My surgeon said 64 oz of Water and 64 oz of Protein daily. He knew I could not do that at first but as long as you got most of the requirement in he was OK with it.

I was told by my nutritionist it's both a liquid and a meal

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
