Today is my 31st wedding anniversary! :-) I am mother to 26 yr old twin girls, one a marine biologist and the other a wildlife conservation biologist. I also have a 22 yr old son in the USMC. He's coming back from deployment soon so I'll get to see him for a few weeks this summer. No grandchildren yet... but when they come along I'll be healthy and energetic enough to enjoy them, thanks to rny. :-)

FOUR boys?! God bless you, how do you manage to FEED them?! I only had one and he ate everything even remotely edible within hours of me bringing the groceries in the house! His sisters took to hiding food in their bedroom so he wouldn't get it. Thank God the military is feeding him now. Expect your taxes to increase soon! :-) lol

Happy Mothers Day!

I have three children. Son is 22, daughter are 20 and 18. All are still at home which can be stressful, but we are family so we make it work.

Married to a great guy, who has been my rock through this whole weightloss journey. Will be married 20 years in June and together 25 in August.

My mom is the best there is. There are five of us kids. We spent the day together today, and she was so thankful. She just kept saying, " I love my family".

I totally agree with this. I have three boys and all they think about is food. No sooner have they finished a meal and their asking me for a snack. And they are only 8,6 and 3 and eAt so much!! and they are all skinny rails. My youngest just barely caught up to being a normal size this year. Before then he was underweight! Where does all the food go

I have one daughter who is 16 and two step sons 19 and 23. My partner and I have been together for 14 years and counting. I don't have my mom anymore she passed away 21 years ago of a massive heart attack. That's why I had this surgery. I AM going to be here when my daughter graduates, gets married, and god willing has babies. Hope everyone had a wonderful day either with their kid or with their moms.

That's wonderful. You basically raise his kids then right? I hate when people call me a step mom or say I have a step son. Why? Hubby son is 33 I'm 34 he was raise already when I met his son. He live with his mom always. I do cook for us if he is here I feed him. So the role I step mom isn't for me & it PESSED me off when ppl say that to me. I tell them I don't have step children so neither say my hubby son or just call him by his name don't say step son. What do you think? I sound nuts? I really hate that crap.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
