So, I vomited for the first time. Kind of just a few mouthfulls of slime....and a bit of food. I swear it tasted like stomach bile...didn't look like it...but tasted like the acid.

I haven't had issues with vomiting or nausea or anything like that. I didn't feel ill today. No problems with food...just tonight it didn't agree with me.

Should I be super worried that it tasted like acid?

I don't think you should be worried. Are you taking your anti-acids?

I dont know if you should be worried or not... but I personally never had my throw up taste like acid or bile. I was kinda surprised and still am when I do throw up because it's nothing like pre-surgery throw up. Very foamy and no taste except maybe what I just ate. Nothing gross like before.

I don't think you should be too worried I would mention it to your doctor the next time you see him or if it gets worse. Are you on Prilosec or something to reduce the acid?

Thanks for all the replies! :) Yes, I take Zantac. This was the email from my surgeon:

"There can be a few acid producing cells along the lesser curve of your stomach and thus be part of your new pouch. Try some omperazole (Prilosec) twice a day for one week then at night for a week or two. Be careful with portion sizes when you are eating.

Call us back if this persists."

I always weigh my food. I've had a pain on my left side and I've felt icky all day today. So I do hope it's all okay, but I will follow these directions. :) Hopefully it helps. I need to check if I can take my Zantac with Prilosec.

I know it's almost 1 year from your post but I have the same problem,

Went to ER and they did ctscan, X-rays, blood work say all is good, I think I need more omeprazole or Zantac to help with this reflux. How did it go for you? Did Zantac helped ?

The best advice I ever got for stomach agonies is to lie on your left side. That way the exit from your new stomach is pointing down and it will pass more quickly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
