MAY 2013 POST-OP GROUP

Recommended Posts

I was at the mall yesterday with my kids and they were all hungry. Had to stop at the food court to grab a quick bite. I found a Chinese place and ordered some Bourbon chicken ( one of the only things not breaded). Ate a few bites and got a to go box. Within 15 minutes felt sick and started throwing up white foamy stuff. I have done this a few times before with food and drinks that don't agree with me. What is the cause of that?

I have had the foamies 3x. Twice from eating too fast, once from not chewing enough. But could be from grease. Have to completely avoid fried foods. Boy would I like some Chinese food though!

OMG....I just hit the 75 pounds lost mark. This feels amazing :P Also, I hit a weight, 350, that I haven't seen in 13 years. I was this weight back in 2000 and I can't believe it's been that long. I never went below this weight since but I so am now!!!!!!

Wow the emotions that are flowing are unexpected but feel great.

I hope everyone else is doing good :D

You look great :)

This past weekend I had to give in and buy a new pair of jeans. I am usually a 28W but now I am a 24 regular and even these ones are a little loose. Isn't it great when something like this just makes your day, heck it has made my year :D

I seem yo have stalled again. I know I need to increase my Protein (only getting about 60-65 daily). I have heard some say that they increased their calories to break a stall. My nut talks only about portion sizes and protein, carbs and sugars...not so much total calories. I am curious on average how many calories some of you are getting daily?

I get between 750-1000 calories per day, lower when I don't exercise, higher when I do. I quit weighing myself in June because I was losing so slow it was depressing me but I feel like I have done pretty well. Clothes are rapidly getting too large and I can see that I have a waist line which is thrilling.

I'm doing alright, as well. Stalling like nobody's business but I am very patient. I'll get there when it's intended.

Been a bit irresponsible with my Protein and Vitamin intake but trying to slap myself out of it. Other than that, eating normal foods but most days it's a chore.

Glad to hear y'all are doing well, tho!

I can't seem to get more than 400-500 calories a day with about 30 grams if Protein. Walking 2 miles daily and sometimes my calories are negative with the exercise. A slice of cheese is about all I can do at a sitting. I tried nuts but they don't agree with me. No shakes either. Nauseous at the thought of one. But I hit 60 pounds so I am happy down from solid size 24 to 18. Haven't weighed this weight in last 20 years. Feeling good!

I'm not sure how some of you can actually eat that many calories... I looked at my fitness pal and my usual calorie intake daily seems to be around 520-640. I'm doing well though. I'm down total of 63 lbs. I cannot do bread, chicken and a few others. My new pouch is very picky. Lol :). Hope your all doing well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
