pookybear 284 Posted May 8, 2013 I don't want one....ok maybe sometimes I do lol My question, though, is because my BF's friend had RNY and drinks energy drinks all the time. It just made me wonder how bad they are for you post-op and how they might effect you.

BBdoodle 483 Posted May 8, 2013 I would ask your surgeon that question. I don't drink them .. they scare me a bit.
pookybear 284 Posted May 8, 2013 I used to before surgery but gave them up. I just think if they tell you to limit caffeine and alcohol because of how it can effect you, energy drinks must be worse!
nursemissy 42 Posted May 8, 2013 I would ask your surgeon that question. I don't drink them .. they scare me a bit. I liked the 5 hour energy drinks. If i put something in my mouth i want it to contain Protein. On the threads they talked about Click double shot expresso coffee. It was like drinking a double shot starbuck coffee. 15 gm protien Hot or Cold. I have a container of it on the way.
Sparklette 381 Posted May 8, 2013 Check the sugar, I know monsters, even the low carb monsters still have like a zillion grams of sugar in them. I'd be afraid of dumping. Try the B12 energy shots.
pookybear 284 Posted May 8, 2013 But even if you can tolerate the sugar, I'm sure the Taurine or whatever else they put in it for energy would be so bad for you. If I think of it I'll ask the doc on my next appointment, just out of curiosity.

1HauteDiva 26 Posted May 9, 2013 I do drink the absolute zero monsters when I need that added jolt of energy. I love them! And they actually taste good. Here's the nutritional content: I wouldn't say drink them everyday but once in a while shouldn't hurt. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
