Ok so I am at the point where I feel ok joining a gym. But I am confused which one I should join. My choices are, YMCA, curves, dinardo fitness, or LA fitness. Any thoughts on any of these? Likes? Dislikes? Good or bad experiences?

I have been a member at the YMCA for a long time. I like going there but every city differs in their YMCA. I would go take a tour and if you like to swim like I do they offer a good Water aerobics class.

My suggestion is to go try all of the gyms and see which one is a best fit for you. Most gyms have as part of the new comer package a chance to work with a personal trainer. Once you find a gym that feels right to you ask for that free time. Ask them for a work out program that will help you achieve your goals.

Things to ask yourself about each gym:

Do you feel comfortable working out there?

Is it easy to get to from work or home?

Is the price reasonable?

Do they have classes I want to take?

Do they have a pool?

Are the locker rooms clean?

Do they have reasonable hours of operation?

I just joined a planet fitness here in texas and LOVE it :-D I didn't go with curves cus I think it's too low impact. I'd make sure the facility is nice. And good for me I've had a friend to go with me and show me a few things. I usually to the elliptical... Both kinds... The stationary bicycle. And recently have been doing these weight lifting machines working on my arms and abs. The hardest part is walking through the door the first time :-D I feel HOOKED now. If you don't have a friend defiantly see about seeing a personal trainer for a free first time to get a feel of the machines and a good work out :-)

Wow You look great! How much did you start out at and how much have you lost? If you don't mind me asking.

I've never been to any of them other than YMCA. But look at the options each one offers. Does one offer classes you might be interested in? Does one have a pool you might want to take advantage of? Does and of them have a 'women only' workout area? Does one offer daycare (if that's something you need)?
