Tampa, Fl Surgery Doctors **please Help**

Recommended Posts

PLEASE HELP! ! !:help: :help:

I recently discovered that the doctor I was going to use when medicare kicked in next month is no longer accepting medicare. He supposedly revoked his privlidges with them because they did not pay. Although that does not sound right to me, now I am left to find a good surgeon who can perform the lap band. Can anyone recommend a doctor in the Tampa Bay, New Tampa area? Please provide me with there address and your reviews of them if you would. Any help would be extremely appreciated. The Dr.'s name is Dr. Grossbard I found this out with a call to his office.

Thanks,

Sal

Dr Grossbard has left me high and dry as well. He did my Band and might I say..I have had nothing but problems. I was driving from Orlando over to him for my fills and without any notice to his patients he pulls this. I hope and pray you find a really good surgeon who truly care about his patients not just the bottom line!

LAP-BAND as well as Laparoscopic Roux-en-y Gastric Bypass. At these weight loss seminars presented by John Dietrick, MD, Board Certified Surgeon and member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, you’ll learn what weight loss surgery is, who is a likelycandidate and what it takes to achieve significant loss of excess weight.

From meeting Dr. Dietrick at a seminar yesterday, I think he seems wonderful. He was patient with explaining things to us, and he went over how the process involves meetings with psychologists, dieticians, etc... to make sure this causes a LIFESTYLE change.

I'm still deciding if I want to take the plunge, but I thought I'd let you know about Dr. Dietrick.

I am going to go to a local seminar here in Tampa but I'm considering have the surgery done in Bradenton by the Bradenton Surgical Group (Dr. Bunch).

Has anyone else used them? I'm too concerned to go out of the country!

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER DR GROSSBARD. He is a rude man and even my doc said stay away from him. The almighty dollar is his main concern, not patients. I am investigating Dr. Murr in Tampa. I have heard only good about him and u can read patient testimonials on his website. He is with TGH.

Being banded 3/4/08 with Dr. Murr at Tampa General. His team is spectacular and he is a very kind, patient, and thorough surgeon. Looking forward to getting the monkey off my back. Good luckQ

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
