Has anyone purchased a medical alert Bracelet? I know that after Gastric Bypass we cannot have NSAIDS and also no NG tube in case of an emergency. I have been told that it is a great idea to wear one, but no one knows I have had this surgery. I don't want a bracelet to announce it.

Mine didn't either, but I found some really good info and this was one of the ideas. I feel like it is a good idea just in case.

You can find one that isn't too obvious and that says "check wallet" or "info". I've been shopping around. I don't want to announce my surgery...but I don't want any issues cuz I didn't have one. I'm thinking of just finding a regular medical alert "heart" and having gastric bypass engraved on the back. It can go on my regular charm Bracelet.< /p>

That's my first thought too. You could also wear it on a chain around your neck. Even if it was obvious no one would need to know WHY you can't have nsaids. It could be because of allergies, ulcers, or other medical reasons. All anyone needs to know if they ask is your doctor says you can't take nsaids.

I haven't gotten one yet. But there are some nice ones online. Also if people are that nosey to ask why I'm wearing it, it's none of their business. I do have some major allergies and that's all i have to say. Now if I'm in medical need darn right i want them knowing right away because i don't always carry my purse or wallet on me.

I've bought two. One is silver and really nice, the other one is attached to a sports band. On the front they only have my information and emergency contact and then on the back is the info about gastric bypass. No be has asked me about mine. If they do I will probably just tell them I have some medical allergic reactions. It makes me feel safer wearing it in case something were to happen.

Go to www.laurenshope.com I got one on there. They look like regular bracelets. No one needs to know what it's for unless you tell them.

I didn't want to announce mine either so I clipped a medical alert saying I had gastric bypass. No NSAID no NG tubes to my license.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
