I have fallen back into my old habits. My parents are staying with my husband and I while their RV is being fixed. All my mom eats is junk food. She has bought cakes and Cookies and soda. I don't seem to dump on those items and have begun eating all of it. For the first few weeks I thought I had it under control - I have been so good for a year a few bites won't kill me. On top of that I broke my ankle playing soccer last week. Which means I am not working out like I was. Last night I realized it had gotten real bad. In a few hours time I had eaten 3 small bags of cookies, and crackers. I have stopped drinking my Protein Shakes and stopped taking my Vitamins since I broke my ankle.

My plan for tonight is to talk with my parents and then my husband and I will throw out the junk food. I know others have gone through this. When I first started eating like this again I was continuing to loose weight and sizes.

Does anyone have other suggestions to get through this bump in the road.

I am 10 months post op and have lost 110 pounds.

My best advice is to talk to them. Tell them you are having a hard time and you'd appreciate that they remove the junk food or make sure it's away from you. Then start back on the Vitamins and Protein shakes. Focus on that. Once you've been doing that, use this experience to gain some self control. Junk food will be constantly around us and you will be happier if you can go to a birthday party and refuse cake and be totally happy about it then sit around with the feeling "I shouldn't have done that" or "one piece won't hurt". The first couple months I had all junk food out of my house, now it's here but I've gain self control I can sit with my family while they eat cake, Cookies, chips, candy and I'm not even bothered by it. Good luck and I really hope you get back on track!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
