Confused over Sugar Free

Recommended Posts

Day 6 of my stall - and I am reading all you guys are writing, especially with staying off the scale.

Here is another frustration;

just prior to surgery I had dropped 40 lbs in 10 wks with no stalls. Typical of Yo-Yo'ers, I almost backed out of surgery thinking "I'm good, I can do this on my own" because once again, I did terriffic on my weight loss.

Today I am 2 wks post op.... my post op weight loss has been slower than my pre-op weight loss, and that is AGGRAVATING.

BethAnn above writes:

The weight has no choice but to come off after what we just put our bodies through.

Really? Yes, I suppose this MUST be true, but I'm not feeling it today.....

I worked with my Dr to be able to have the surgery done, recover somewhat, and be able to return home 500 miles away. I leave on my trip home in 12 days and I had prayed to have dropped 20 lbs! I have dropped 5. (15 lbs in 12 days.....??? uggg)

15 lbs in twelve days...is good. Keep it in perspective. When was the last time you lost that in such a short time? I have lost 60 in 80 days. Less than some, more than others. I haven't been this low in years, I'm grateful. Comparisons to other people when there are so many confounding variables will only make you frustrated.

Sorry but did you misread what I wrote maybe or perhaps I'm not getting the vernacular? I lost 5 lbs in 14 days. I had hoped to have lost 20 lbs in 24 days or even have come close to it. But 5 lbs in 24 days after RNY seems hopeless for a MAJOR surgery. My trip comes 24 days after my RNY. Today I am 14 days post op with a 5 lb loss.

**Sounded to me that you lost 15 lbs in twelve days at the end of this "paragraph" and you are disappointed in that.

I lost 6 by the same point you are, but by the one month mark I lost 30. Its not always consistent. It doesn't mean it failed.

yeah I meant that I can't see losing 15 lbs in the next 12 days

I'd be happy to have lost 15 lbs by 1 month no less 30. I have always seen a trend though in heavier people losing more "pounds" in the beginning and I wonder if a lot of that is Fluid ORRR is it that a lot of heavy people are addicted to carbs and sweets, thus when you remove those carbs & sweets, the pounds come of quickly.

I still had expected to be down at least 15 lbs in 30 days...... But I really had wanted to hit -20 by the day of my trip.

It's frustrating because I have always been able to lose weight (and lots of it) without medical intervention. The problem for me was the Yo-Yo'ing and my diabetes. I had hoped the RNY was going to help me put an end to that.

I wonder if insulin resistence still remains???

It took a few weeks, but my A1c is now normal and I don't take anything right now for diabetes.

About larger people...the more you weigh, the more calories and nutrition you need to live.

One measurement they did on me at my heaviest weight was a body composition test, which indicated I needed, bare minimum 1900 calories daily to MAINTAIN my weight at the time with a sedentary lifestyle. If I exercised or had an active job I would need more. If I ate the same and was active, I'd lose weight.

Now someone who is 150 lbs MORE than me is going to need more calories and they require more calories to move their weight.

If both of us are getting the same 800 post op calories, Protein, and fat; and had similar activity levels for our size, who is going to lose more? The heavier person because they are burning more calories. At least that's how it was explained...

If you only have 80 lbs to lose then you are already very close to being half way at your goal and your only at 9 weeks. That is awesome!:)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
