This is my second day out from the hospital' date=' 4 day post-op. how is everyone doing with their meds, shakes, Vitamins. I am not sure if I am mixing right. My husband mix me a shake yesterday ugh! it was watery.[/sub']

You can try mixing the Protein mix with 1% or skim milk. The milk has protein also. You can get different types of extracts to add to vanilla and give you different flavored.

Woot, I'm on the losers bench! 2 days post op and feeling great, and advanced to stage 3 just now and the Protein is going down fine. Only real pain is where the drain is but doc says once they tale it out I'll feel like a new woman.

I've literally had bouts of the giggles....Finally after all the planning and the prep, I'm finally here!

Came out of surgery around noon yesterday, but I don't actually remember anything until about 4pm. Woke up sore and disoriented with a dilaudid pca pump. I've been up and walking 4 times since then and walking really does help. Most annoying thing is the mouth and throat dryness. My voice is really strained and hoarse from the intubation. Some nausea mostly after walking, but its not too bad. I even refused phenergan yesterday and opted to wait 2 hours until I could have more zofran. Phenergan just makes me feel like a zombie, I hate the stuff. Burping some, but no poots yet. Still dealing with the foley, cant wait for them to take it out in the morning.

Nursing staff here at Duke Raleigh is wonderful. Everyone has been very nice, professional and caring.

I was supposed to be at Duke Raleigh, but my insurance insisted on my surgery being done at Durham Regional. Who was your doctor? I had Dr. Sudan.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
