I came home from the hospital last night around 8:00pm. Thank goodness someone mentioned bringing a pillow. I took my meds and went to bed. Slept like a log! I didn't move until 6:30 am !

I feel like I was hit by a Mack truck! lol Overall, ,I guess I don't feel too badly considering I had major surgery just two days ago. I did great at the hospital. I wasn't in much pain at all while on the pump. I had something that was 7 times stronger than morphine. Since they took me off of that though, I have felt the pain in my stomach area. I drank lots and lots of sips yesterday. Overall, I think I had about 15 ounces in about 8 hours. It's hard because I was going by what my NUT said, and then the doctor said just listen to your pouch, and drink what you can. His goal for me over the next couple of days is 30 ounces Protein and 30 ounces liquid. Eventually, I will need 60 and 60.This is really going to be like a job.

Off to find some protein and get started. Hope everyone has a great day!

Keep up the good work. You can do this. Just hang in there!!

Yes! I drank a lot of Water too. Because it is so low in sodium your electrolytes get out of whack. When mine happen a bullion cube in hot water helped. Good luck!

Thanks, today was the 4th day of my high Protein Shake diet, however, because of the spasms, it's my potassium, my counselor told me to hold off on the shakes and eat deli meat and white chicken. I hope this doesn't interfere with my surgery...

Today has turned out tone pretty rough. They took away my pain pump so I'm feeling the soreness. That makes it difficult to drink or put anything in my mouth bc my stomach is uncomfortable. I'm not liking this at all. :-( Praying it gets better on a brighter note I can walk around no problem!

Keep walking!! You'll feel so much better. I've done like 20 laps in the halls in a day and a half. And I'm getting discharged tonight!! Woo hoo!!! I can't wait to sleep in my own bed.

Thanks JeepChick. I'm trying to push thru. This transition from iv meds to oral is tough. I feel EVERYTHING and that makes it difficult to want to get down any liquids. I don't want to do anything but lie still and sleep and wait for my next pain medication. I will do more walking when my husband gets here. I did one lap this morning. Then three or four this afternoon. I'll do as many as I can when he comes. I DO NOT FEEL LIKE IT but if its going to help I will do it!!!

Thanks again for the encouragement. I surely need it.

The switch was hard for me too! Today has been a little rough compared to my first day after surgery. I am burping, but still not the other end. I think I will feel much better once that happens!

I have had a hard time finding liquid tylenol. I am trying not to use the narcotic pain meds as often. I finally found some on Amazon, and it will ship to me next week.

I still believe that I am recovering well. Looking forward to feeling normal again, though. On a positive note... I have not been hungry at all! And I am getting in some Protein and Water.< /p>

My surgery was Tuesday. Came home today. I hate this darn drain. It's stopping up and the liquid is dripping on my legs. Doctor says not to worry about it but its really bothering me. Other than that, all is well. Not hungry.

Just made it home. It was a long and bumpy 3 hour drive. It normally takes an hour and 15 but we stopped every 30 min so I could walk around. It helped push a lot of gas out. Hubby is getting my pain meds from pharmacy. I'm just tired and sore. I need to get some Water in.

I found liquid Tylenol at cvs. It was on the bottom shelf and its actually the cvs brand. I think it was $5 or so. I was waiting for my scripts and just thought I'd take one last look. I have been looking for it everywhere. My dr gives liquid Vicodin which sometimes messed with my stomach.

I joined the losers bench on Monday. Surgery went really well and I got home yesterday afternoon. I'm feeling decent except the gas. That is just horrible. So I'm trying to get rid of it the best I can.

My gas started two days post op and lasted about 5 days. It's miserably uncomfortable but you'll get through it. I stopped taking my night time pain meds two days ago and yesterday felt pretty normal. Today I wandered around some clothing stores for two hours just looking, then I went to BJ's to pick up a few things. No pain or discomfort but I was tired enough to settle on the couch with my little dogs and get some reading done. Take it slow and don't over do it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
