So, this morning I feel like my entire body is tired. I have very little energy, anytime I sit too long I sleep.< /p>

Any advice to get some energy?

Not sure how far post op you are but after four days in the hospital all i did when I got home was sleep for the first week. It is what your body needs. I would drink, walk and sleep. By two weeks out I started to get more energy. It wasn't until one month out I felt like I did pre-surgery. Just hang in there.

Apple juice or gatorade?? that used to happen to me right after surgery, on my first days home, gatorade would wake me up, doctor said it was probably the sugar levels dropping.

Totally normal!!! You should rest, but don't forget to sip and walk as much as you can. I was in the hospital for 5 days and day 3 was that day for me, I could not even open my eyes but my doctor insisted that I sip and walk...all I wanted was to sleeeeeep!! You will feel better soon! :D

Yes!!! sleep, listen to body. It's been through a lot! I would be DRAINED after a shower... Out of breath and exhausted! But it slowly comes back.

sleep, sip, and walk.

Happy recovery!

Surgery date 7/25/12

I took a shower this morning, it was a little difficult, I have to step over the tub, and I thought I was going to slip, It was stressful. but the shower itself was nice.

I took a walk, had a nap, and a couple of visitors and some juice, and I feel better now. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
