Im going for my information seminar on May 23. I teach school, and wish I had started this journey earlier so I could have surg this summer. I wasnt betting on the 6 month diet. Im wondering now what dates I should try for? I know the one week off at Thanksgiving wont be enough time. Will the two week break at Christmas be enough time to recover? Next summer? I dont think I can wait a yr.

The two weeks at Christmas should be sufficient. What grade do you teach? What insurance do you have? They may not require the 6 month diet, Mine didn't, I have BC/BS. Do you have a documented history of dieting? Weight watchers, nutrisystem, etc? A lot of times doctors will push for those to be counted.

Even then, I waited a year, I was held up with the psych evaluation, and I honestly think that the year helped me understand and prepare for the surgery.

Best of luck. :)

My insurance did not require any pre surgery diet. I was back to work in one week, I was lucky to have no complications.

I'm a teacher too. I was doing the same thing when I started this journey... Trying to fit the surgery into my schedule so I could take the least amount of time off as possible. My goal was to have it at spring break time so that I could have the vacation time off and then just take an additional week, then back to business. When that didn't work out I almost waited till summer. I do have plenty of sick time saved up, I hardly ever miss school, so the more I thought about it I decided to just do it before school got out and take the extra time. For once I put myself first over work and everything else. I actually decided to take 3 weeks instead of 2 because I know the end of the school year is really hectic for me and I wanted to be fully recovered and comfortable with my new eating schedule before I jumped back into work. I am six days out of surgery, doing great... I just heard the school busses drive past my house about an hour ago and didn't even feel the least bit guilty that I'm resting on the couch drinking my Protein Shake while they are all headed off to school. So my advice is ... If you have the sick time, take it, put yourself first. Also if you can request a substitute teacher that you are comfortable with, do it. the one I choose is great and has a similar teaching style to me, the kids love her too. So that makes it easy. Also we communicate through email too so I can still know how it's going. Best of luck!

I am a middle school teacher and I took the week before spring break off and then had the week of spring break. I did have some minor complication so ended up taking a few extra days off. The 2 weeks at Christmas should work for you. If you have the time, take it. Your health is more important. I was very lucky to have a very supportive principal. Good luck!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
