I'm new to this, and I was just wondering from the time insurance approves how long does it take to get an actual surgery date set?

Mine took 4 weeks.

I've seen some have surgery the following week, and others waiting 2 months.

There is too many varieties of what the doctor is looking for also.

Mine was two months because that was the earliest available surgery date. My doctor is very busy.

3 days or something like that for insurance to approve me and then they almost scheduled me a week later...but I needed more time to work out work issues.

Same here. I was approved about 4 days after insurance got it and surgery was scheduled that day. I think I was approved December 4th, and I had my surgery February 7th,

From my insurance approval, my surgery date was about 4 weeks out due my surgeon being so busy.

In my case, I don't know with Tricare. I am hoping/praying they won't make it difficult for me. Luckily, I have an awesome Bariatric Coordinator. I would think, if Tricare approves me, I'd have a surgery date soon after my pre-op diet.

I had a tentative date once I had most everything done then it was finalized and scheduled with the hospital once they got insurance approval.

I got insurance approval within a few days of my doctor submitting it (about a week ago). They can't schedule my surgery until after I complete all the requirements. I have my Nurse Education class Monday which covers everything pre and postop, and goes over all the risks of surgery. My husband has to go with me as my caregiver... I really hope he doesn't freak out. He's a natural worrier. My program also requires three consecutive weeks of workshops. April's were full so I had to wait for May. I'm hoping I can get my date after the Nurse Ed appt. They said it COULD be as early as the day after my last workshop, as long as my doctors schedule permits. I hope.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
