Since Surgery 4/23/13 weight os up 3.5 pounds

Recommended Posts

I am sure it is from the IV fluids in the hospital and the gas, as I am bloated. I am still getting in my fluids and walking, still really sore belly, otherwise no issues, no nausea or other issues. Is this pretty common with others who had RNY? I also had a hernia they had to surgically repair and a lot of scar tissue. How long before the gas subsided and you were able to have a BM movement?

My surgery was 4/17. I was there 3 days. I came home weighing +4 lbs from the morning I went in. In 1 week I lost that 4lbs plus 6 more. I had to do a bunch of arm exercises though to help release the gas that went towards my shoulders, and I took gas X for 7 days which really helped. I did not have one large gas release, it was subtle and began on day 3 post op. I had a BM on day 6 that was like goose poop - kind of gross (sorry)

I'll be honest - the chewable cherry Gas X tastes amazing!! Almost like candy, thus I had no objection to taking it (this coming from a person who has NEVER taken a gas remedy ever). I ate them religiously for nearly a week 4 a day.

I starred feeling better after a BM my system recovered and the Bloat went away the weight is also dropping now, down from my highest after surgery 6.4 pounds, and even below surgery day 2.6 pounds. This makes me a happy camper.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
