I am starting my journey

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am happy to say that I have started my journey.

I took my seminar,

enrolled in the program,

had my initial visit with my doctor,

Decided on rny

met with financial,

Had my first nutritionist appointment

Passed my first psych evaluation, (two more to go)

Schedualed my sleep study and EKG,

And started my new diet.

I have 5 more visits with the nutritionist... And a ton of tests... But I am so excited to start this journey toward taking my life back.

Can anyone offer and advice or wisdom? What can I expect? And tips?

I've been in this process for almost 9 months so the excitement in the beginning has turned to nervousness. I'm 11 days away from my surgery and I never thought I would get here. Everything will be worth it and you have admitted something that a lot of us have put in the background.....you want to love yourself. I think we all had that problem in the beginning but we all are doing this for ourselves and we all will do great :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
