13cc VG Bands..anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else have the 10cm VG band with 13cc fill capacity??

If so, what amt did you need for restriction?

I am 9 months out. Total fills 10.5 cc and still don't have good restriction.

What has worked for you?

Just wondering. I see so many with the "10cc vg band" but not the one I have.

Is there anyone else out there???

feeling lonely....:phanvan

thanks

Missy

Wow I ddin't know they had a 13cc band. Well I can tell you that in my 10 i needed 9.5 to get restriction. Also a gentleman with my same surgeon is at 13ccs in a 10cc band. I was concerned about how early I am on my journey to need it filled to almost capacity, then she informed me that they can hold way more and not to worry. Just keep going in for fills till you get restriction. It takes time and persistence :)

I'm at 8.2 cc's in the VG band and I have pretty good restriction. I think if I was any tighter I would have more incidents of pb's and not being able toe at certain things. Right now I can eat just about anything except dry chicken as long as I chew well and don't take too big of bites. Good luck on your journey!!

No flaming pls. I am miserable. I am not sure how to move past my own compulsive behaviors.

I am trying to listen to my body, stop when full, eat healthy....yadda yadda...yadda.

I have a 13cc band. 10.5 cc at present. I can still eat pretty much a regular portion. It is slightly less than pre-band.

Yesterday...I went and walked on the treadmill for 20min. Did 10 minutes of mild wt training and went home feeling good.

I was home 1 hour..........

I ATE AN ENTIRE BOX OF LITTLE DEBBIE MARSHMALLOW TREATS. I DIDN'T GET SICK...NO PB...NO SLIME....NO PAIN. OMG....THEY WENT DOWN SMOOTH AND GOOD.

........ FAILURE. I pretty much hate myself at the moment.

This is not the first fall off the wagon so to speak.

.... compulsive carb craving.... like an addict craving heroin.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
