Stopped losing weight

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, another question: I'm 3 weeks out and since leaving the hospital I was consistently losing 1lb per day, but 5 days ago I actually went up 1lb and haven't lost anything since! Feeling a little discouraged : ( anyone else experience anything like this?

Relax and breathe, everyone goes through it....also, get used to it, cuz it's gonna keep happening from time to time! I swear I think it's your body catching up with what you've done to it! Keep up the good work and it'll happen again.

Yes! I stalled at about two weeks post op and it lasted about a week. Just stick to your plan and the scale will start moving again soon. I think it's your body catching up with all the changes. Many people post about this and about 2-3 weeks post op seems to be very common.

My surgery was 6 weeks ago. I lost 18 the first two weeks. Then about 2 in 4 weeks. Ive been going up and down those 2 lbs that whole 4 week time span. I pretty much feel like I'm never going to lose. How is it possible to have this surgery and not lose. The last thing I want is to have this fail on me :(

I didn't lose a single pound for one full month after surgery, then it started dropping off consistently. I am 7 months post op and have lost 117.8 lbs.

What's a typical day of eating like for you?

I had a 2 week stall. I had to start working out more to lose. I'm still only losing about 2-3 pounds a week.

I'd absolutely love to lose 2-3 lbs a week! I think that is the perfect rate!

Now or then? Now I mostly feel like its snacking really. Eating about every 2-3 hours. Protein first I usually have cheese, chicken, nuts or a progestin bar. About 1/2 cup per meal. Solid Proteins keep your belly full longer so I try to stick to those. I feel like I am always eating but I still don't have hunger so I have to keep a schedule so I don't lose precious time to pack in Protein.< /p>

Yep I meant now! I've never heard of a progestin bar. I take it it's a Protein Bar? I'm looking for a good low fat low sugar Protein Bar I can start using. I'm a dental hygienist. I need to be able to have Protein Snacks that don't have to stay cold that I can have between patients.

Yes Protein....Dang phone! I use Premier Protein...30 G protein, 8 g sugar. I buy them at Sam's Club. Turkey Jerky is good too, of course right after surgery you can't have that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
