I've been having a bit of a rough past couple of weeks. I'm stressed out, Appetite is less, having some pain/discomfort and even some nausea after I eat but today my spirits were lifted a bit. I decided to try some old, smaller size clothes. I have gone down about 2 dress sizes at least! It's exciting! I just realized I need to go shopping for new clothes.

I'm happy and almost in disbelief. I haven't really shopped for myself in years. A couple of people say I look like I did back in H.S. If they could only see the flab under my clothes, lol. My upper arms, abdomen and thighs are starting to show loose skin :( I cannot wait until Doctors tell me I can start physical therapy. But yes, for a moment I smiled at the fact that I fit into my old clithed again. I'm beginning to feel somewhat normal again. I'm still not at my goal, I'm in the overweight range but I'm glad not to be obese anymore...more than anything for my health's sake. It does feel a little strange and even a bit uncomfortable looking at myself in the mirror a little more and not trying so hard to hide under layers or oversized clothing. It's not that I'm not grateful for the change and progress, it just feels a little weird. I think I've been hiding for so long that not doing so makes me feel exposed. Has anybody felt this way?

Yes, it makes sense. I was used to hiding under my clothes but now I realize I 'feel' better in clothes that actually fit esp when the scale doesn't move for a while. Go buy yourself something nice and try on somethings you never would wear before. :-)

Funny you should post this today. I was at work today wearing a new smaller uniform and looked at myself in the bathroom mirror - I thought to myself wow you actually have a waist and are skinny. I never thought I would get here and I am finally feeling good about showing myself off so to speak.

Thanks, I think that's what I'll do :) It finally won't be so bad trying things on in the fitting room.

That's great. I hope I begin to feel comfortable soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
