Newbie to the boards revision from lap band to Rny!

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm Traneé from Houston Texas! I'm scheduled for a revision from lap band to rny next Tuesday April 30th due to a slipped band. Very ready to get this band out and start on my new journey with rny!!

I'm considered a light weight so I'm a little worried the weight won't come off as quick as it should :-/

Thanks,

Traneé

Usually with less weight to lose you do lose slower..,,just kinda how it works. Life without a band is AWESOME!!!!!

I live in Australia...the bypass here is not really that common..can't wait to get rid of this band...I am also classified as a light weight. 102 kgs. I think that's about 215 pounds.. 5 7" Any body got any tips for me..thanks. And good luck. Would be good to compare notes in a month or so.!!!

I'm also a lightweight who went from band to bypass. My revision surgery was December 10, 2012. I am losing slower than most but am thrilled with the 57 lbs I've lost. My doc says that usually the lightweights lose slower but get closer to goal. I'm 63 so I also have the effect of age on my slow loss. Slow and steady (except for those darned plateaus!) for me. Good luck to everyone pre- and post-surgery!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
