Anyone have their band out and have time in between the revision?

I had my band out on Thursday and they haven't set an exact date for my bypass yet, but it will be sometime within the next 2 months. I made a tuna melt for lunch today. My first bite in and it got stuck!!! I mean, sliming, gagging, painful, stuck! It eventually went through, but I can't believe that the scar tissue from only having a band for 2 years could cause that much of an imprint on my belly that food is still getting stuck.

Anyone else have this happen??

Hi, I am inbetween as well. Not sure when or if my revision surgery is, will know next Monday.

I have a lot of scarring but am having no problems with food. In fact it feels so fantastic not to have that rotten thing in anymore. No choking or reflux.

Have you spoken to your doctor yet about what damage they found when they removed your band?

I hope it gets better for you real soon xox

I had my band removed and bypass the same day. My band was in for 7 Years. Surgeon said everything went fine. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago. Why do other surgeons wait????

My doc said way too much scarring and inflammation from my slip and the portion of the stomach where he makes the pouch was extremely irritated, to safely make a healthy pouch he would have had to make a much larger pouch. No, no, I don't need a larger pouch!!!

How was it a doozy? I am getting my revision in a month and getting more and more nervous. I started liquids today.

I was in extreme pain from the revision, BUT that doesn't mean it will happen to u. The pain meds weren't helping it was horrible, Again that was just my experience I have had a lot of surgeries that was worse than getting my gallbladder out, BUT I survived the pain is gone and praise God! I'm losing weight. ;)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
