Ok... Here we go... I had a reversal from lapband to RNY in Nov and I am struggling!!! I just can't give up the sweets & high calorie meals! I do really good during the day but when I get home and I'm with my kids and husband I want to eat what they eat and I want the sugar cookie, Cheetos, tacos and everything that caused me to be this way! I say to myself that I can walk away but, I cave! I still crave the bad stuff, I don't dump so it doesn't prevent me from anything and worse is that I don't feel restricted in anyway when I eat! What do I do? I even considered diet pills to suppress my hunger and give me energy or I want my dr to run tests and tell me why I don't have a food restriction but, at my 3 mo follow up he brushed my concern off. Could I see another dr if he's my surgeon? Ahhhh- frustrated:(

You're only 38 pounds from your goal...and this is a tool. I don't know...maybe ask the family to not have the cheetos, tacos and sugar Cookies in the house? I'm not sure the answer, I'm sorry.

Thanks Nel- I know the hubs and kids don't need to be eating that way too but, I feel guilty taking things out of the house when I made this choice not them... Just bummed- guess I need to just hang in there, not like I can reverse it

I too struggle... And It is a addiction. One big thing that helps me is not even have the food in the house. Carbs cause you to crave more carbs and feel hungry sooner. I also don't dump :-/ I actually had rny so I would dump. Replace bad foods with good or better choices. And I always say most of this journey is head work. We can re arrange out guts but that does not fix our heads. Maybe reach out to your bariatric doctor and they can suggest a good therapist. Good luck :-D it's great your reaching out now. You got this :-D

It is hard and I can't imagine having all the crappy food in my house as I am a carb addict. The only thing I can recommend is up your Protein. Go back to the basics and eat low carb and high protein. If you continue to eat carb it will continue to trigger your cravings and in the end can sabotage everything you worked so hard to achieve. If it was my family I would try and make the change for everyone and not have tons of that stuff around because it isn't healthy. Try Special K chips versus regular ones. Slowly take some of the bad choices away. You don't have to take it all away as it is about moderation but get everyone in the habit to find better choices as it will help them all in the long run.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
