Country Girl 5 Posted April 18, 2013 Hi, ladies and gents! I'm basically a newbie to this site. I started the RNY process in January. I've had my initial appt. with some lab work. I was informed that I'm anemic based on lab results. Now I've been ordered to do an anemic profile. I've been scheduled to do a sleep study, pulmonary function test, and psych eval. My insurance is BCBS. I'm having to pay cash for several pre-op labs (that sucks). I think I'm on a pretty steady path to have surgery this summer. My waiting period is 6 months. I'm already 4 months down. PCP will give me clearance once he gets the final results of all lab work and tests. I'm kind of nervous about this whole process because I don't want any set-backs with insurance denials. I would greatly appreciate any support I can get from you guys. Thanks... Band Mom 3 17 Posted April 18, 2013 Hello! I began my 6-month process in early February, so I am hoping for a late July/early August surgery. I am a teacher, so it has to be done before mid-summer so I can start back to school on time. I am hoping to have everything completely done other than my last PCP visit and will be a nervous wreck once paperwork is submitted to insurance!
Country Girl 5 Posted April 18, 2013 I see we're pretty much shooting for similar surgery dates. Please keep me posted on your process. Time is flying now.

anm1063 24 Posted April 18, 2013 Good luck sweetie! It is a long process, but in the end it will be well worth it. I am having my surgery on the 30th of this month and started the process in November of last year. I have Tricare for insurance, and to be seen by a civilian doctor would have involved many of the same things that you have to do. I was lucky enough to get in to the post hospital. I have been clearer for surgery for a month no, just had to wait for a surgical spot to open up.

Band Mom 3 17 Posted April 22, 2013 CDC, I have BCBS also and have a required 6 month of physician supervised weight loss. It is going by rather quickly! I only have a few more appointments left and all my doctors seem to think approval will happen without any problems. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
