Hello,

I prefer bottled Water. You can have sugar free drink packages to add to flavor it. Crystal light, Walmart has a brand, etc.

Post-op i craved just cold water.

I suggest you look into Bariatric Choice or pantry. I figuredbif i have to deink or eat it might as well have Protein in it.

This is just a start i am sure if you search there are tons more of ideas. I thought i would help get you started.

Chapstick, if your not allowed anything to drink then mouth moisturizer its like artificial spit. Comfortable stretchy pants. I had a cathater and once that came out i put pj bottoms on. Toiletries..toothbrush etc.

I have papaya chewable enzymes and gas ex strips but some people like chewable gas ex. Check with your doctor to make sure he is ok wirh the products.

All I can say is I had the RNY 9 months ago and couldn't be happier. My two year stint with Weight Watchers did much to prepare me for post-op life. I agree with other posters - do your research - but don't let the scary stories stop you if you are sure this is right for you. I read some whoppers that were pretty frightening but I agree with other posters, most of the unhappy folks weren't following the rules and tried to eat like they would before surgery which propmptly made them sick. Some folks had unfortunate complications but once they resolved the majority of them were happy with their decision. I had folks beg me not to do the surgery but I just knew i was doing the right thing - and it was. Best wishes on your decison.

I really needed this feedback today. Thank you it was one of those weekends where friends had me second guessing myself, I know i'm on the right track but it seems like i'm a train and a few people are trying to derail me.

I walked one mile today. With fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis i could barely shop.

Energy is amazing and yes there are days i have to rest.

If you ever second guess yourself look at posts. All people hear are the bad things....hardly the good but in the end its your decesion.

Doesnt mean the road will be easy but its so worth it.

Talk with God and see how he feels about it too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
