different for everyone... including the 3rd, 4th, 5th and ...... stalls...... there are so many stalls on this crazy journey. Measure yourself and watch the inches drop so you arent obsessing with the numbers on the scale. Something I wish I had done but sadly didnt...

I'm starting to think I'm on that trend too!!! I loose 10-15lbs then stall for a week or two then loose another 10-15 lbs then stall!! But I'm still happy I'm loosing my weight and have been reassured its normal !

I'm like kisersassy...I'm 6 months out and I too stall two weeks each month. This is when I lose inches. I drop numbers for two weeks and then inches for two weeks. I'm down 90#. I keep a journal. It's easier to identify the patterns and shut that inner pessimest up!! Keep going!!

I too usually stall out a couple weeks out of a month. I'm almost 5 months post op. I've noticed though I will drop inches and usually a size in clothing during that time. The stalls don't bother me anymore. That's when I know I need to buy a new pair of jeans :)

Highest Weight: 331 Surgery Date: 11/26/12 319lbs Current Weight: 232 04/13/13 Goal Weight: 157

That's so awesome!!

I think I will try to keep my inches somewhere. I have only had one stall a months or so after surgery but I'm pretty sure I am on my way to the second one. I am about 5 months post op. I know it's normal but always scary!!

Oh for sure!! For me, my inner pessimist will say, "Oh, you're four months...five months...six months post op, you're done losing..." Tell her to shut up!! I wish I'd kept up with inches, but very much like everyone else, I know the inches will be falling off in those "stall" times...

My first 2 weeks I lost a total of 14... Week 3 I've lost nothing :( very frustrated and discouraged! Isn't week 3 a little early to already be stalling?

Thats exactly when I stalled. I lost 22lbs in the first three weeks and then stalled for a whole week as a matter of fact, I went up 2 lbs. I am 5 weeks now and the scale finally has gone back down those 2 lbs again. My NUT said to really focus on Protein and sometimes this helps break through it but be reassured that you are still losing inches.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
