Hi,

I'm Holly and I'm pretty new to all of this. I had my surgery 4/8/13... I've been having a good time with liquids and full fluids like yogurt, pudding, and Protein Shakes that i don't add enough milk to (so its basically pudding too lol )...

Question is.... I'm able to have about four ounces of yogurt (or whatever else) in about a twenty minute to a half hour time frame before I stop and feel satisfied. I asked my surgeon and he says it's fine but.... Is it, really?? I feel like its too much.

And when did you start eating things other than mush?? I'm tired of this already and its only been eight days!

What are some things to eat that might liven my choices up??

One of my favorite foods right after surgery was puréed chili. I loved it!

OMG That sounds great!!

What was in that chili though? Store bought or homemade?

I'd buy store bought turkey chili and put it in a little chopper I got at wal-mart and add a slice of cheese... I love cheese :-)~

Homemade. I just used the leanest meat I could find ( 90/10), Tomato paste, Beans, and seasonings.. I like my chili with a little salsa. Once it was cooked I put it in a food processor. A lot of people also get Wendy's chili. My nutritionist actually recommended it as well. I just always made my own

My surgery is tomorrow. My mouth is watering just thinking of this chili!!

Check with your surgeon about what they allow though. For example, I wasn't allowed Beans until week 4 and I can't have turkey, not even ground, until week 7. When I was eating mushy foods I was allowed mashed potato, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, cream of wheat, and oatmeal.< /p>

That sounds yummy!! I'm not allowed ground up meat until the 22nd, though. Just full liquids now. :( ... What i really want is sauteed scallops. Mmm, mmm!! Another week and I'm having some or one! Lol :)

Wow. That is news to me! I've never seen any research where doctor or nutritionist urge you to eat fried chicken or a unhealthy type of pizza. I should have tried this diet - LOL.

I can't have bread rice or Pasta for the first two months. They said bread can expand some and stick to your pouch. ... This kills me - i looove carbs! its been ok adjusting though this passed week. I'm too scared to mess up and get sick or something. Knock on wood, that hasn't happened yet!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
