I would call my primary physician. I would probably email my surgeon's office just to let him know but your surgeon really only deals with the surgery itself. What kind of problems are you having??

I lot of pain on my left side. I looked online and where my pain is indicates something with my kidney. I'm afraid I have a kidney infection possible.

I had kidney infection right after my surgery - from mixture of issues and not drinking enough Water or being able to pee. Simple urine test from dr can figure it out.

Do you have any burning or pain with urination. How far out are you?? Is your urine foul smelling, dark or have blood in it? You could have kidney infection or kidney stones. Did you have a catheter after surgery? I would call my primary doctor and see if you can bring a urine specimen in? Is the pain in your left back??

I don't have any other symptom but the lower left back pain. It's a constant intense pain that has gotten worse in the last two days. Putting pressure to the area sends shooting sharp pain

Well, I would call your doctor and report your symptoms to them. Especially since the pain is constant and just started a couple days ago and getting worse. Good Luck and keep us posted

sounds like a kidney stone. Signs of UTI are dark foul smelling urine, pain, fever and urge to urinate frequently. Def call the doc and have it checked out.

My experience with kidney stones is pain so bad you can't sit still, can't walk, can't move. Omg, they are horrible. Call the doc because if it is a stone, catch it before the pain!

That is the thing I don't understand. It's been two days of pain and today's pain is worse but it's not so bad that I can't walk or sit or stuff. Do kidney stones take time to build up the pain? I thought it was always sudden out of the blue horrid pain... Idk..

They can take time if it is big and slowly moving around. Plus all the Calcium you have been taking. Most docs can do a urine test some will do an x-ray or CT Urogram. depending on their capabilities. Most people can pass them if under 7mm with mild to moderate pain. But above that its should probably be lithotripsied.

Sunnybare you are either in the healthcare field or have had them. I totally agree with what you say, my daughter is a chronic producer of stones, and has been for 22 years, but hers are not Calcium. But either way they are very painful and become more painful the more they move. If they aren't passed then either a bucket retrieval or lithotripsied has to be done. This should not be ignored and needs to be diagnosed as soon as possible.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
