Surgery tomorrow might get cancelled... So STRESSED.

Recommended Posts

I've had swollen tonsils for about a week and my surgeon said it was fine, but yesterday I started to spike a fever. I called her office and I'm waiting for her call back. I'm so stressed and afraid that I'm going to be postponed. I can't handle doing this liquid diet, and Clear Liquids only today, then getting cancelled. Have any of you had an experience like this?

I'm scheduled for Wednesday and have a sinus infection been on antibiotics since Sunday, I'm also waiting to hear if my surgery will be rescheduled and I'm getting frustrated, I don't wanna hear it's postponed and doing the liquid diet for nothing plus starting the diet all over is really going to suck!!

Yes even a little worse, I was on the table ready to be rolled back and the Surgeon walked in and said my blood sugar was too high and would not operate that day. No amount of my begging worked. He set it for a month later, He said eat thanksgiving dinner and then start the pre op diet again. Meanwhile a tumor and cyst on my ovary was discovered and on Dec 5 I had a revision of my lap band, to RNY, and a gyno came in and removed my ovary cyst and tumor. I guess there really is a reason for everything, I say this in the hope that you do not get canceled tomorrow. I pray your fever goes away, But if for some reason it is canceled, try to think of it as being for a reason and that it isn't NO, it is just not Tomorrow. Longest four weeks waiting for the second date to come. But it did all work out for the best.

Sending you the most positive of thoughts and prayers.

Vicki

I was feeling so bad before mine. Thought I had strep thoat. They said the antibiotics they give during surgery will kill whatever it was so for me not to worry about it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
