I recently went to get a couple of things to wear. I am QUICKLY growing out of my clothes and I am super excited about that, but at the same time I am running out of things to wear. We don't have a Goodwill in the town I am in so I haven't gotten to one of those to find some "just for now" clothes to wear. I went to look for some clothes the other day and couldn't find anything that I liked. I guess in my mind I don't know what to choose to wear. I liked the clothes I had before but I am not sure now what looks good on me and I don't know what I feel comfortable in anymore.

I guess I want clothes that show off the new me, but at the same time I feel like I've lost my sense of style. I wear around clothes that are either belted because they are WAY too big, or clothes that are a little big. I call those my small clothes. I PROMISE I am not complaining at all, I am just frustrated. I don't really have a question that needs to be answered, but I guess I just need some guidance/tricks you guys have used and I guess I just wanted to say all of this out loud. It is really hard to tell some of the people around me about all of this because it seems like I am complaining. They just don't understand what I am going through and don't know how to react. I just want to feel good in clothes again and find my style again...any suggestions???

I just plan on belting things as long as I can, or borrowing friend/family clothes for the time being. Check free-cycle, resale shops, Walmart clearance.

Totally know what you're going through... I gave 3/4s of my wardrobe away and I went to by some "for now" clothes... And even tho the outfits looked good, mentally I didn't feel amazing in it. Like I wasn't ready for all that current fashion to be on the body that was still under construction. I left the store without anything. The less I could have done was purchased some "go to" stretch pants. I guess this why we had to pass that psych evaluation.. this weight loss journey can make you 51/50.

I HATE clothes shopping so I don't know how it will be when I lose the weight. I have many sizes already from years of yo yo dieting, but months ago, before I planned on this surgery, I did give A LOT of stuff away, thinking id never fit in it again. Now I wish I had it! It would've saved me some money. :)

Just take a day to go shopping. Experiment and try new things. I have found that I really like bright clothes now that I have lost the weight. Try to put out of your mind what you used to wear and focus on what looks good on you now. If you can find a shopping buddy and just go have fun. Trust me shopping will be fun again. My favorite part was when I officially said good bye to the women's department!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
