Every surgeon has a different diet plan. I was allowed Jello, pudding and cream Soups starting the day after surgery. IMO it's not worth rushing ahead to try something not in your plan. I've seen 3 people who had surgery in March like me and skipped ahead and were eating "real" food - French fries, soda. They all got strictures and they aren't even a month out.

I wouldn't do it. It's a big change and we went through a lot to get to this point AND we've got to keep doing a lot to succeed. Just stick it out!

My surgeon requires to continue the liquid diet 3 weeks after you are released from the hospital, and to not continue on another phase til you are seen by him.

Every doctor is different. ^_^

My surgeon is strictly Protein. No starches. So i would only follow your guide sheet.

Yup every surgeon is different. Mine had me on liquids for only 2 days after, then puréed for 4 weeks. I saw him 2.5 weeks out and he approved me to go onto soft foods like eggs ricotta canned tuna and chicken but only one new thing a day. He said as long as I take pencil eraser size bites and chew 25-30 times until its puréed in my mouth, I will be fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
