But im in hospital.. :-(

Since before the op seven months ago, i would some times have strange coloured pee. I always put it down too living in a very hot climate and not drinking enough. Straight after the op i had alot of blood in my pee but my surgeon said it was usual after the op to have a bladder infection.

Over the next few months i had a few other "attacks" of blood in pee and pain in my ribs/ stomach area - which i just put it down to aches and pains from all the exercise i have been doing.

And the nurse or doc where i lived never gave me an impression that i should worry. Finally the sent me for an ultra sound ... I got the results in on tuesday morning, got sent straight to the nearest hospital (1 and half hours away) for a check up, which on the way they changed to admittance... Then i got here to be told that i would be having an op the next day to remove a "growth" from my bladder. So now im one day out not in pain. But bored crazy and stuck in a room with a very loud ( and gassy) russian who is on the phone constantly !! Ahhhhh i have to be in hospital until sunday and i dont know how i will make through without going crazy.

I will get the results from the bi-opsie of the growth only on two weeks- and even if the news isn't good - the treatment will be localized to the bladder and will not make me sick/ lose hair etc. Im kind off in denial about it all and find it very ironic that finally i feel so good that i am in hospital.

I suppose the moral of this story is not to be too passive when it comes too our bodies. Please send me " dont go crazy in hospital" vibes... And i will try not to scream at the russian lady!! ( im in Israel and just to prove that its a multi- cultural society- im in a room with a Russian, a beduim , an arab and an israeli ... And I'm english! .... Im sure theres a joke in there somewhere!!)

Don't go crazy! You will survive this!!! I am glad you are getting treatment. I am in the states- New Jersey. I had a Chinese woman with advanced dementia who was undergoing some kind of treatment for lung cancer when I was recovering from surgery. I only know that because her family spoke so loudly you couldn't help but hear anything. It was not fun.

I have had a couple strange scares in the past-- large growth removed from my colon 13 years ago. I know the scary feeling, and I am going to pray you have the same benign news I had!

Worrying just makes it worse. :) Good luck and keep us posted.

(my son had a growth in his neck. One day it wasn't there and then two weeks later he had this thing growing visibly DAILY. You'll never know scared until you have something removed from your child and sent for biopsy. Every day trying to convince him it was okay and wondering what was in store for us. Whether or not we were strong enough to handle what was coming. How much faith in each other and God we really had to get through something like this if the news was bad. It was nerve wracking. It took two weeks to get the results. Completely harmless. So I know...you can't help but worry. But try not to.And I'll make sure to keep an eye on my pee. I can't believe your surgeon didn't think that was an issue. :) ))

Today im in crazy mood-- chatting to all and watching the indian soap opera channel!!! I have to be here at least two more days... I might not make it out sane ( not that i was before hand)... Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
