Had my bypass on Monday. Only on a liquid diet, my blood sugars are sky high. They cut my meds way down in the hospital

So I'll be putting a call into my endo to see what I should be taking and how much. My question is how did others with type II do after. Did anyone have to increase their meds.

Surgery 12/12, didn't have to increase my insulin but I'm still on insulin today, when I was in the hospital after surgery and had a blood sugar over 200 I noticed that potassium was hanging for my IV, and guess what's in that with the potassium? Glucose! Duh....... Dorks! So I requested to have it without glucose and then sugars went down after that! I'm currently using less than half what I was on, wish you the best......

I was on U-500 insulin and a boatload of oral meds--really insulin resistant. Sugar was high after surgery which was 3/25. Has steadily come down. I took 10 units on the morning it was 134but other than that no insulin. I am still currently taking Januvia. Hoping to eventually be off all meds and have the diabetes under control. Feeling better with not having the highs and lows all the time. Best thing I could have done for my health. My ends was the one who suggested this would be the best way for me to get a handle on the diabetes. Currently not taking any cholesterol meds--will see what my next blood test shows. Figure I'm not eating much with cholesterol currently--will see how much my body is producing. Those pills are so big.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
