Northernsun 4 Posted February 15, 2007 I started exercising about a month ago using the elastic bands (bodylastics) and using their circuit training dvd and I am really ( to my dismay!!) enjoying it. I do this 6 mornings a week and in the evening I walk the dog and on days we don't go out ( -30 wind chill is a really good reason not to go out!) I ride the bike. While my knees have improved greatly with the weight loss, they are still not good enough to do squats or lunges. What targets thighs? I know they are smaller then they were but I need to buy a larger size just to fit them and then the tops of my jeans need a belt! Also as I get "looser" my thighs are heading for my knees! Looks like another summer of long shorts! Any suggestions?:cry
Kat817 19 Posted February 15, 2007 They have a machine in Curves that you push out and pull in with your legs straight ahead of you. It provides resistance, and works both the outer and inner thigh. I can see you working the same muscles pulling out using the band, maybe something like an exercise ball to provide resistance to the push in.... I once did a floor exercise (in one of my MANY classes prior to banding!) that you lay on the floor knees bent, with a ball between your knees (we just used kids .97 balls). You keep your hands on the ground next to you and slowly squeeze your knees together and lift your butt off the ground...hold for a count of 3 and lower slowly. This worked the thighs and the hips if I remember correctly. I am told target exercising does not work by one person, and then the next highly recommends it...so who knows!!! Good luck---you will lose your thighs, and I will say goodbye to this belly!!! Kat
Northernsun 4 Posted February 15, 2007 Thanks Kat! I will add that to my morning routine. I know it is just takes time but sometimes i am not good at waiting for results!

Northernsun 4 Posted February 19, 2007 I am not sure anything will get rid of them except surgery but i keep trying by loosing more weight and doing tricep excersises in my normal routine. I figure I will never were sleeveless shirts!
conniesueb 1 Posted February 19, 2007 The triceps are my biggest problem, too. They keep waving long after I do! I have been looking for the best exercises for the triceps, but I'm not sure anything is going to help! I workout at a gym that is just like Curves almost everyday, but I really need some extra help with those granny arms, too!
marys 2 Posted February 20, 2007 here's a good one for the triceps - You will need one big hand held weight anywhere from 3-10lbs depending on how strong you are starting out or a large, heavy phone book works good... you can stand or sit but hold in your belley and watch your posture. Raise your arms over your head holding the book or weight = keep your arms close/tight to your ears. Lower and lift the weight bending at the elbows, slowly feeling the tension in your triceps Keep the weight or phone book behind your head, lifting straight up - don't bring it foreward Start with 3 sets of 10-12 For inner thighs... Do you have a larger ball at home like a basketball or anything similar? Sit, place between your thighs and squeeze - hold for up to 30 seconds, rest and repeat - good to do during commercials if you are watching tv. For outer thighs, stand behind a chair (sideways) holding onto the back stand tall with one hand on your waist flex your foot and lift your leg to the side, raise and lower 10-15 times change sides repeat 3 times
conniesueb 1 Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks Marys--I will definately try that! I really don't want to have plastic surgery when this is all done, but I would like to be able to wear sleeveless shirts this summer without feeling self-concious.
babygrl1234 6 Posted February 20, 2007 Are the bands like the long ones with the handles on the end? If so you can sit in a chair put your legs together and wrap the bands around your thieghs not super tight, but tightish. Then open your legs with the band on there for resistance. That should simulate the theigh machines at the gym.
