Looking for experience buddies around 300 pounds

Recommended Posts

Hi friends

I am following Cherry's example and I am also looking for experience buddies to be together on this rollercoaster.

Do you have your date in the next week or two? My date is on 17 April.

And currently I am weighing in at 324 pounds.

Would be great if there is someone out there around the same weight and operation date, we could motivate each other and just connect to check in and see how things are going.

I am excited and scared at the moment!

@ Rem - wow, congrats on your weightloss! you're doing well! I have been struggling to lose weight before-hand. I stopped smoking cold turkey and it made me turn to food, so this last few months I've actually put on weight! I am a pound or 2 away from my weight the doctor has of me! Oh dearie me! Hopefully I can shed a few pounds more this last week, so that i clock in "under" you know?

@MrsLulu - WOW! That is a huge amount, congrats! You are two days before me! I know this feeling of excited and slightly nervous all in one. Just take it one day at a time, only 5 little sleeps left!

I actually lost 5 lbs while I was working on approval I then quit cold turkey from smoking and gained 6lbs. My doctor understood. I've lost a couple more since my appoint 2 weeks ago and she didn't kick me out of her office and she still scheduled my surgery. Lol so, I wouldn't worry. The reason we are having this surgery is for this exact reason. It's a roller coaster ride that will never end even after surgery. We lost the battle but, we'll win the war! :) congrats on quiting smoking! It was hard for me too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
