So I ate a little too much and ended up vomiting up a little food and blood. I'm waiting for my surgeon to call back but I'm worried. Has anyone had this happen? I'm 3 weeks post op. I'm not having any pain now.

Thanks,

Right after my surgery, the next day when they gave me ice chips, I spit up a mouthful of blood. It flipped me out so bad. I hope you hear something good. If they don't call soon, I'd head to ER. Don't let anyone that doesn't have experience with your surgery scope you.

Oh, and we think mine was from when they put the tube down my throat and that I had dried blood I ingested with my ice chips and that my stomach rejected it.

He called back finally! Told me to keep an eye on things, gave me a list of things to look out for and told me to hold off on any more solids for 48 hrs.

That makes my pouch hurt thinking about it :-( I was actually scared to eat after surgery and I had zero apatite.... My nutritionist and doc told me I actually had to start trying foods to get my pouch use to things. Listen to your body and take it slow :-/ don't question it online... Go to the ER o_O I just can't imagine spitting up blood a few weeks out as normal :-(

What were you eating?

I had 1/4 cup of bean with bacon Soup and about 3 small bites of dark meat moist chicken that was fork tender. I chewed really well. Surgeon said he thinks I probably just got over full and irritated a incision or it could have been from my esophagus.

I would have gone to the ER but my surgeon and his hospital are 90+ miles away from me and I am concerned about having someone scope me who isn't familiar with RNY patients. Had it been a lot of blood or kept happening I would have went in. Bad thing is, I'm now scared to eat. But that will help me in the long run. Lol

I know I'm really scared to eat things. I am getting better at it. Hope everything goes well.

If your bleeding/vomiting blood you need to go to the hospital ASAP something is wrong.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
