@@RJC5197 - that is the BEST feeling. I've had to donate 5 bags of clothes already. I did not think ahead to put a big enough clothes buying budget aside. lol. I'm paying the price now (literally). I'm trying not to buy too much, but when you go from a 50/52" waist to a 36" in 12 weeks - the old stuff quickly starts to get baggy. Congrats on your loss!

Safety pins and elastic are my friends!!

I can make a small hole in a waistband and hook a safety pin to a piece of elastic and tread it through.

Then I pin it on both sides and this makes a skirt that can be quickly adjusted.

Just remember to ALWAYS wear pretty panties.

Last night at a family party, I was getting embarrassed by all the compliments I was receiving from my relatives and family friends. I am glad my hard work and good utilization of my sleeve is showing. It's very encouraging to get some extra loving from your clan.

I can cross my legs, cross my arms over my boobies, fit in clothes that I haven't worn in over 2 years, dropped a size in undies, walking around without my knees and hips hurting!!

I can't wait to lose the pain, along with the weight!

thats been my main reason for perusing wls.....it's cheaper than back surgery and will fix much more than my back. Can't wait to live life back pain free!,

Everyone's experience is different, but I will share mine. I had 5 herniated discs prior to wls. I have lost between 101-103 lbs depending on the scale that day. I am 5'1 131 lbs and muscular. My back, knees and feet still hurt. Not as much as when I was a 100 lbs overweight but not every ache and pain disappear for everyone.I do not regret surgery but I think people presurgery need to hear these things.I was told I would never miss the anti inflammatory meds I can no longer take but for me, not so. I am 48,18 mos post op and was obese about 15 years not a lifetime, just for reference. Best wishes.

I use ice, topical ointments and am working with a trainer to strengthen my core. I also see a chiropractor and the pain mtg doctor has said it is possible to burn the nerves in my back to kill the pain but it's a last resort. I also never wear anything but orthoric shoes and sneakers with inserts. It's a challenge but many have it much worse

That is my plan as well. Most of my dresses and skirts will make it through 50-80 lbs using the safety-pin, elastic technique. I will use those 80's dress clips for dresses and purchase leggings to go under sweaters that will be over-sized fast. There are a number of stores that offer consignment as well so I figure once my clothes are unwearable then I can work within the consignment system to save the budget. What fun things to look forward to!

Yes, it gets you amazingly far without having to panic shop.

Then comes the day where there's just no getting around it -

the back of your pants looks like the saggy baggy elephant.

Then its time to buy more.

Thank you for posting this! Once you have damaged your spine - there's no such thing as pain free.

      Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

      Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

        I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
