From size 22/24 (UK) I am down to size 18 UK, that is size 16 US. It feels amazing.

My feet are not hurting at the end of my 12 hour shift. Yes, I am tired but I recover in an hour - before surgery I was close to quit my job as it put me in such misery, I was not able to recover in between shifts and my feet were constantly hurting. I never went out coz other then work all I wanted to do is rest my feet, so I always cancelled on all my friends with various excuses (was ashamed to tell them the real reason).

This freedom of mobility is huge for me. I can go up the stairs without feeling like I am going to pass out. I can walk long distances, I can walk uphill without needing to stop and catch my breath. This is the real reward for me, feeling how I'm getting lighter and how life gets easier. Sometimes I look at my 120 pounds co-workers and I wonder how easy their life must be. I wear trainers at work, I carefully choose them, with ortho insoles, and they wear some little canvas shoes that has no support, without any issues. I will get there soon!

However, I have a confession to make. As much as I love losing weight I am also very sad to see a few of my clothing to go. I spent lots of time finding them and lots of money buying them, and I have quite a few pieces that I really really like. So this makes me a bit sad. Most likely I will not have much money to replace them so I will have to be satisfied with some budget solution such as second hand ect.

@green*eyed*girl maybe if the clothes are good quality you could have them altered?

Still a great "problem" to have!

I just took 4 of my favorite dresses to the tailor and had them taken in - they look great (for $20 each) - won't have to buy "in between" sizes this summer - hopefully I'll be in a much smaller size by next year. I've also discovered I now fit some old clothes that were too small.

I know what you mean about being sad about letting the old larger clothing go. I felt the same way. It took years of searching and considerable investment to build that plus size wardrobe. I think also that after so many weight losses and regains over the years, I feel like I could fail at this, too. Letting go of those clothes was like losing my 'safety net'. It's a huge leap of faith that says 'I will never need these again'.

On the plus side, it's so much fun shopping for new clothes and - wonder of wonders - those small clothes cost less than the really BIG ones! I've been buying a lot on clearance. Tops for as little as $3, last season's bathing suit for $10, an expensive dress for $14... you get the picture! I am on a great and happy adventure!!! Lol

Over this weekend I have done some shopping. Tops in size medium and two size small. Nice to able to shop in those sizes because there is so much more variety than in plus sizes. Also took in some clothes that were too big. Great weekend. I am 23 lbs to goal weight so maybe one more round of mending and shopping before I stabilize.

Today I put on a shirt that I haven't worn in a few weeks. The band at the bottom of the short sleeves is suddenly loose. It used to be tight!

Down 55 lbs. from my highest weight - now, at 233, I can: ride rides at Legoland with my son comfortably, go to the pool and not feel embarrassed, cross my legs (!!!), climb stairs with ease (up and down), go shopping or work all day without feeling like I am going to die. No more knee pain, foot pain, swollen legs, feet and ankles! So happy and so looking forward to even more NSVs!! I need to edit my stats and ticker - very out of date!

Bought cat litter at Target the other day. The bag I buy weighs 18 pounds. As I was walking across the parking lot with it kind of hugging it against my belly because it was heavy and didn't have a handle, I realized just 4 short weeks ago I was carrying more weight that than this around on my body every day all day long.

What a great feeling to know that weight is gone and more will follow and I won't be this big ever again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
