I know this may come across kinda gross, but I have a question. Very often I read about gas issues post op. I am 2 1/2 months out and I have experienced more gas then I used to.

But, today I have been very gassy and I have gone to the bathroom like every hour! It's not diarrhea the stool is normal but I have been going all day! I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I am thinking it is all the gas pressure just pushing things out. I have had more gas today then I ever had. I took some gas X, hoping it will help. This happen to anyone else?

I found out what is going on. Once I talked to my kids I found out the have had gas all day. Today was my birthday and my son had made a sugar free birthday cake with a Pillsbury sugar free cake mix and sugar free frosting. Apparently it can give people horrible stomach distress including bad gas. I googled it and it seems to have happened to others. So be forewarned.

Yes true sugar alcohols and certain sweeteners they use in sugar free foods cause GI distress in some people. Gas' date=' bloating, diarrhea and pain.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
