Aunt Flow during Surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies HUGE question...I know this is personal and tmi but I was wondering if its bad having your aunt flow start during surgery? Because my Surgery in a week from Monday, April 15th and that is the day Aunt Flow is suppose to arrive and I'm thinking how embarrassing its going to be if I am. :(

It makes no difference at all and they deal with it all the time. You'll likely get a 'sexy' pair of mesh panties to wear and a pad about the thickness of a toilet paper roll....I do recommend bringing your own feminine supplies! More of an annoyance for you than anything :)

No worries. Soccermomma right. They deal w it everyday. I started on the table apparently!! I did warn them tho. It was a total pain in the ass after surgery tho. Dealing w a stupid pad while fighting the IV and all the other wires. Changing it while on bathroom breaks was a pain. I had to have help from my mom. :-). I wasn't allowed to use tampons.

But definitely don't b embarrassed.

Mine started the night before surgery, nurses were totally cool about it. Had to wear the awesome mesh panties during surgery, but my catheter was gone when I got to my room so they let me use tampons. Sweet ladies!

Oh and I was guessing it is going to be a hassle, and I know my mom got my back if I need her LOL but praying that it starts after surgery.

I rarely get them regularly with PCOS, and when I do, they are 7-12 days of holy hell! Well my surgery is in 9 days and I just started today! What tha????? This is my luck! I think it is all the hormones because of the rapid weight loss up until now cause this. Now I understand why I am losing hardly any weight on the liquid diet, all that Water retention. This is no bueno!

I started mine the morning I had my gallbladder removed. I didn't have the mesh panties. I had to "hold" the pad between my legs while trying to get over to the table.

I've tried to get that also. Mainly bc I've had to have so many transfusions but my great insurance says no.. bit they'd rather pain thousands n hospital stays and transfusions? O.o

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
