Tiggy 14 Posted April 28, 2013 After ascertaining that I did indeed wake up from surgery, the first and next 30 questions out of my mouth were "were they able to complete it?" Thank goodness the answer was a consistent yes! Loving my RNY so far. No problems with my band, but no successes either after the initial weight loss (which I subsequently regained and then some.) Just never had enough restriction, except when inflamed by being sick... 3 ColoradoChick, LeanerLena5426 and monken reacted to this

I felt so bad for her! But in the end it all works out HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 220.
Tiggy 14 Posted April 28, 2013 When was your revision? My surgery is May 15th 4/2/13. Loving it so far! Try #2 - much bigger support system, much more maturity, and so far a really good outlook. And doing everything I can to make sure those things all stay in place!
Martinmommy3 7 Posted May 14, 2013 Anyone else loosing extremely slow after revision? I'm 15 days post op and I'm only 8lbs down!!!!
momlambert 77 Posted May 14, 2013 I didn't lose much at first and hit a stall at 2 weeks. I still lose slower than most, it seems I'm 5 months out and have list 62 lbs. I'm not sure it's the fact I had the band as much as my age and my screwed up metabolism. I'm almost 64 and have dieted for over 40 years. Give it time!you WILL lose! SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted May 14, 2013 Anyone else loosing extremely slow after revision? I'm 15 days post op and I'm only 8lbs down!!!! Okay, soap box moment....you just had major surgery, you're probably not doing intense exercise yet, your body is trying to figure out what you've done to it but you're losing 1/2 a pound a day.....that's fantastic!! Take a step back and look at the big picture. If you continue to lose at this rate you'll lose 180 pounds a year.....give yourself some credit and breathe, don't drive yourself crazy expecting crazy results. 2 monken and kristy3k reacted to this

oldoneyoungagain 200 Posted May 20, 2013 Okay band comes out Thursday because it slipped. So today I seen the psychologist (He approved me for the band and just have kept him in place) and got clearance for RNY from him. (Three doctors down, one to go). From there, on to see my PCP for a diabetic check. Both visits I had to weigh in and have lost 4 lbs. in a month and I now notice the feeling of "full". Three years with the band and have never actually known what the "sweet spot" was until this has slipped. Before I just stopped eating or only ate when hungry. Anyway next step will be my visit with the surgeon for follow-up on the 30th and going to corner him about going on to better things "RNY". Hopefully, I can get the bypass within the two months as he said on our first visit. Only need three months of weight management and have one month down as of today. This will be three surgeries in 3 1/2 years. Am I a happy camper "no", but things happen for a reason and that is how I have to look at my situation.
oldoneyoungagain 200 Posted May 20, 2013 Let me add to my previous comment. "Hind sight is better than foresight" and if you look at my join date here on RNYtalk I joined one month before I was banded. Brings a smile to my face, otherwise I would probably bawl. SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted May 21, 2013 It's so freaking worth it!!!! I'm not losing nearly as fast as the other folks from February but I'm slowly and consistently losing (except for the darn stalls). And I'm not starving, and I don't feel deprived, and I feel good!!!! I never ever ever felt this good with that darn band!!! So very worth it!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 214.6 I can't complain about my band, still can't even tho it slipped. I lost about all I would lose with it (lost another 4 lbs this last month), but what really makes me so angry is I thought I was doing the right thing when I was banded. Now with further research I would have never had it. I wish I would have had the bypass and should have listened to more of my co-workers who have had bypass. Now two more surgeries which I am not looking forward to either for what we have to go through. The end results yes I am looking forward to that. I just wish there were more my age out on this site to see how they have faired with this surgery.

I am totally angry that I didn't do thorough research on the band. Now having to put myself through two more surgeries to get another 40 lbs off just to save my life or lets say prolong it a few more years. I am a little scared because these are major surgeries and I'm almost 71 years old. But whatever happens will be God's will and have to put my faith in him that he put in the hands of the right surgeon this time.
