I'm doing ok. I'm home. Pain is ok. Meds r working in that area. The pain meds make me sooo drowsy. So I'm just sleeping when it hits and when I'm awake sipping or eating sf Popsicles. I'm so concerned about not getting enough liquids and Protein in. They want me to start off with 1oz of meat/protein and the rest in liquids. But I know I can't do that. So I'm just going to get in as many sips I can in each day - every sip having some Protein in it except the sf Popsicles. I'd love to fast forward to next Friday. I think I'd feel 1000% better.

They told you to eat meat already ??? It is it just the Protein? I wasn't on puréed food like meat till 3 weeks post op. I started protein shakes( 3a day) once I fit home. Don't worry in time you will be able to drink more, don't fret about that just try to rest and heal!

Yes. He sent me home on Stage 3. Seemed odd to me. 1oz of protein (scrambled egg, tuna, or chicken etc) and the rest liquids to get in fluids and protein. I at a teeny teeny piece of scrambled egg friday morning in the hospital but i left that alone after that teeny tiny bit. I'm not trying to eat any meats. I'm just focusing on drinking and making sure protein is in everything I drink. I've only gotten in about 12-14 oz today. This medication and Vitamin schedule is enough to make u go insane. LOL. I feel blah today. Hope tomorrow is a breakthrough. I did go walking in my neighborhood. And haven't had any pain meds since 1130am.

Thanks for ur help. I have been really worried about drinking bc I've read all these horror stories about being dehydrated and having to go back in the hospital. I am NOT trying to go that route. LOL. But I will try and focus more on resting and healing. My sister had to fuss at me to sit down early today. :-/

I was the same way! The day I came home the contractors showed up to completely gut and redo our 2 bathrooms!!! I was up and down all day and they came at 7am and didn't leave until 4-5 most days for 6 weeks!!!! So I never got much rest and had to walk around all the crap they had all through both hallways!!! 3 months out and still don't get all 64oz of Water a day. Usually it's between 45-50oz. When I first came home it was hard as hell but they told me just to try to drink as much as I could but don't beat myself up about it. That in time I would be able to handle more and more and that's exactly true !

Hey...everytime I read Dr. Salzberg I was like 'man this chick is busy'. Little did I know ya'll were referring to a man. Lol

Good to know that there's people my area on this journey.

Im looking at pay Sept./ early Oct.

I have to get my Protein & Iron up so after I retake some labs in the next few weeks I'll get my date. All other test are done and only 2 more PCP visits.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
