I had surgery on Weds 3/27 and stopped taking the pain meds on Sun 3/31. Each day after that I was feeling a little bit better. Now a little over a week out and I'm starting to feel like myself again. The first week is the hardest but you'll start feeling better soon, hang in there! : >)

Every day it will get better. The first two weeks were rough. I was on liquids and felt yucky. After 14 days, I saw surgeon, stitches out diet upgrades to soft food so I felt much better. By a month out I felt awesome. Just remember you had MAJOR surgery so it is common to be tired, sore and all that other stuff. Just follow your surgeons orders and you will do fine

My surgery was Wednesday and my Doctor told me to start on soft foods. They even gave me soft foods yesterday in the hospital. I'm not eating them because I am a little scared. I really am trying to concentrate on liquids. I am going to have a hard time getting the liquids in. What are you all eating?

It will all come together. I am a little over 10 weeks out and eating regular foods. I get all my liquids in and then some. I still don't have much of an appetite so eating is sporadic and I still use Protein drinks to make sure I get all my Protein in. Initially, I couldn't imagine how in the heck it was all gonna work because I could hardly drink-but it will... :D

My nut sent me home with stuff to eat like grits and refried Beans and yogurt...so I don't know. There are so many different ideas of what to do. She also never mentioned Protein supplements.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
