w106fox 62 Posted April 5, 2013 So I'm on day 5 of my liquid diet. I've done great and haven't even had the urge to cheat. However, yesterday something caused to me to have the "hot trots" and it was really bad. Then this morning I weighed in and actually gained 2 pounds? I'm behaving but don't understand the gain? Especially as much as I "cleaned out" yesterday :-/ any thoughts?
Crkrjax76 76 Posted April 5, 2013 I'm on day 3, and I have had the trots since I started this!! I haven't weighed, so I have no idea if I've lost or gained. I'm not having any stomach pains, but boy am I going to the bathroom!!!!
MrsLulu 69 Posted April 5, 2013 I am on day 5 too, and have gained almost 2lbs as well! Makes no sense!! Grrr.... so frustrating!! I haven't had one bite of food since Sunday and I am gaining weight. How is this possible? Everything is sugar-free. Maybe more Water is needed due to high sodium with the broth?

I don't think I can drink any more :-( maybe I'm drinking too much?
MrsLulu 69 Posted April 5, 2013 I just spoke with my Patient Advocate, and she said this is completely normal. She said that most likely there will be a few more days like this, and then we will see some weight drop off right before surgery. She said it is not substantial, but that not losing weight is normal because we are replacing those nutrients with heavy liquids like the shakes and lots and lots of Water. BUT she did warn that it will probably lead to some diarrhea in a day or two so to be careful where you at at. Lol.

coolnessa22 26 Posted April 6, 2013 How many shakes are you all drinking a day? I have been drinking three a day but yet still going to bed hungry? Should I be drinking more?
MrsLulu 69 Posted April 6, 2013 I could not keep down the Bariatric Advantage gross ones. They were thick and disgusting. I switched to Premier Protein shakes from Sam's Club and they taste just like chocolate milk with 30gms of Protein. I have been drinking 3 a day. But also having Sf Jello, broth, hot tea, SF popsicles, Water, crushed ice with sugar free Hawaiian Punch sprinkled on it like a snow cone. I feel full at the end of the day. The Premier drinks are not bad at all and they have a cap on them so I can reseal them. 1 coolnessa22 reacted to this

I drink 3 a day - Breakfast, snack and dinner also drink lots of Water and broth. SF Jello and Popsicles make for nice little treats as well. 1 coolnessa22 reacted to this

coolnessa22 26 Posted April 6, 2013 That's great, I need to get on the broth so I can change it up I'm getting really sick of the Protein Shakes. I have not been a happy camper with not being able to eat solid foods. Im just glad my husband isn't here to witness it, but my poor parents are with me and supporting me and my dad is coaching me through everything because he had his gastric bypass 4 years ago and has maintained his weight (Very proud of him). But I am going to keep up with the 3 shakes a day and maybe a broth as substitute for dinner or lunch. thanks so much ladies
