My surgery date is April 29th and I'm wondering if its normal to be mourning the loss of food and soda which is a big deal for me! I feel almost like I'm losing my best friend I'm sure this sounds crazy lol. I start my liquid diet on April 15th and I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to do 2 weeks of no food

My surgery is April 10, I only have to be on full liquid diet for 3 days prior. I feel the same way and when they told me not to treat the days prior to full liquid diet as the last supper that is exactly what my friends call it trying to eat a little of all my favorite foods because i feel that i will never have them again. But thats ok harder for me was to give up caffeine with the withdrawal headaches that finally stopped. omg

I haven't gone buck wild with eating only because that's just more I'm going to have to lose and I'm trying to back off the soda..I'm down to one 20oz a day so I'm hoping that by the end of next week we can have a peaceful break up lol

I haven't had a soda since March 15! It was HARD, but I knew I it was going to have to happen, so I quit cold turkey! I did have a "food funeral" of sorts. I had mexican, chinese, local root beer stand, local italian place, and some of my favorite homemade foods. I will have one more to go in May when I have my sisters biscuit and gravy.

I did the cold turkey with the caffeine also because I knew if I didn't I would keep having one more starbucks one more coke (diet cherry dp since I found out diabetic). the headaches were extreme and I really just started drinking coffee 2 years ago until then I never liked it.

Very normal! I thought I was being normal and able to watch food network and be at the table while my family ate, but I became angry and emotional. I felt sad and like I got dumped by food lol. It was a phase for me and I back to watching food shows and life gets easier. You can do it! Stay strong hang in there

Three days after I got home from the hospital I made ultimate pretzel crusted Peanut Butter cookie Reece's brownie bars. It was a test for me. Cooking is one of my favorite things and I thought if I can make these without wanting to lick the spoon I'll be ok. I did it! I sent them to work with my husband and I was told never to make them again... I guess they were way too good and to many calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
