Is it normal to have extremely dry skin after surgery?? For the last 2 weeks my skin has been flaking off and looks like I'm heeling from a sun burn. It is horrible and no matter how much cream or lotion I put on it doesn't go away!!!

I think so. Probably from hormonal changes, or maybe you're not drinking enough Water? Your body could be pulling the moisture out of your skin to compensate for what you should be drinking. Try increasing your liquids a bit and see if that helps :)

Thanks Pookybear! I try so hard to get as much Fluid in as possible but I'm lucky if I make it to 40oz.

I hear ya! Some days I can get my 64 in and then some with no problem, other days I don't even come close. Try a little more each day. And remember that milk, Decaf tea and coffee, Soups, and your Protein Drinks all count towards your liquids.

I know what you mean as well.... I got a sea salt body scub that leaves my skin feeling smooth and flake free after a shower.

I have difficulty getting Water in too, and have had really dry skin. Normally its just my body, but since surgery its my face too. I also attribute this to my hypothyroid but I've been using a gentler face wash in the am and pm as well as adding a moisturizer before Bed and before makeup in the am (plus less makeup). My body wash has a moisturizer in it too. I must admit that I almost always forget to moisturize my legs and feet, but I carry lotion in my bag, truck and at work so I'll usually get it on my arms and hands at some point in the day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
