9 Days Post op and plateau'n already!

Recommended Posts

Getting a little frustrated already this early in the game. Only 9 days post op and I've been on a plateau for 3 to for days. Its crazy because I'm 201.4 and I can just smell 199 but refuses to cone.

I've learned to get all my Protein in and now focusing on my Water too.

Any other March folks having the same issue?

My surgery date was in January but I had the same thing happen to me. I stalled for over a week. With a stall so early it was very frustrating. You are doing the right thing by making sure you get your Protein & fluids in...and believe me when I say that it will pass!!! :) just hang in there! That was my longest stall to date & it was really disappointing, but it's been all good since.

Yup!!! Me too!!! Not only have I plateaued but gained 1.5 lbs!! At an average of 550 cals a day. I didn't think it was possible. There is nothing to do but stop worrying and wait it out until our stupid bodies give in and let go of the fat! Usually exercise helps (so I'm told) but I'm not cleared for anything but walking right now.

SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

It happens. Sometimes I'll gain 3 lbs then 2 days later lose 5. Take everything in stride and relax.

It happens to all of use at some point. My stall was 5 months post op, I did not lose for 3 months !!!! I was freaking but then I increased my exercise from walking to running, also started working out 1 hr. instead of 45 minutes and that got me out of my slump. ALSO...... I went down a size in that period so thing were happening just not in the scale department. I just needed to work harder at exercising. You will be OK...stay on your plan, stay focused and all of a sudden you will drop again.

I'm gonna try my normal walk today. I use to walk an hour before surgery but to be honest I don't think my intake of 550 calories now will give me enough energy to sustain the walk

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
