So my gas pain was only bad in recovery. I'm doing good. Got up and walked a long hall, but feel so much better. Did my blue dye test. Still no ice chips until My swallow test is completed in the morning. But i feel great right now. :)

Good luck on your discharge!

I am at 9 days out of surgery and I haven't really wanted to eat at all. On full liquid diet and Protein shakes and I am eating on a schedule to help make sure I am getting all Water, Protein, and food. If I waited to be stomach hungry I probably wouldn't have eaten yet. Just make sure to sip everything and eat slowly. :)

Hi every one. Had my surgery wed @8am and was discharged yesterday. I still have a lot of abdominal pain. Its hard ti get up/down on the couch and rolling over in bed is impossible.

I am on Clear liquids for two more days. I am trying Jello for Breakfast..not sure what "full" feels like.

To Skynymeby47- I have not experienced the same feeling but I would try posts on the Feb and March post-op groups since there are so many more of them. Good luck. Keep up with small sips and the Gas-X.

I totally understand. I could only get a SF Popsicle while in the hospital. Now that I'm home I wat by the clock. I'm relying on Isopure Protein drinks. They are fruity & I can tolerate them. I absolutely HATE the liquid pain med but I can't go without it. I hold my nose while I swallow & I quickly put a small piece of ice to keep from getting sick. Stay encouraged.

Yeah I get a lot of burps when I eat and I'm passing gas way more than I used to. My intestines feel full of air most of the time. I do take the maximum GasX I can, who knows how bad it would be without it! OMG that liquid lortab is retched! I'm not taking it every 4 hours, maybe every 6 to 8.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
