April 2013 Post-Op Group

Recommended Posts

So today I heard sad news. My surgeon has had to medically retire due to health issues. He was Amazing and I bonded with him from the start. He is young and had a bright career. Makes me sad as he is my husbands age and I know he is highly regarded in this area. Trained at Columbia University and was from my home state. I feel kinda lost and I'm supposed to have a appt the 26th. I will be seeing another surgeon to fill in until the new surgeon comes. Really makes me sad <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Oh thats sad. One of my favorite doctors suddenly got cancer and died last year- he was the sweetest man...

The doctors think I have an ulcer. I have pain when eating or drinking and nausea.

In the mean time my sons girlfriend delivered a healthy 3# 2oz baby boy at 29 weeks. He is a rock star. He is on supportive oxygen only. Hes so cute. He is over an hour away.

My stepson ( who is 20)is a douche bag calling me a cu@t. Husband is out of town.

And while she delivered the baby I took my stepdaughter to the airport.

Will go tomorrow to the hospital.

Ugh.

Sorry the stepson is such a loser. Guess he is angry and never learned to respect others. You are so lucky to have a baby to grandmother.

So had a fun night last night! Sat by the fire with some good friends. Had a couple of drinks; captain morgan (thats all I had) mixed with my crystal light peach tea. Got a little buzz but today I have a huge headache! I definitely wont do that again. Dont miss the day after! Gonna be super hot and humid here today so I plan on lounging around doing nothing! Happy Sunday all!

Good to know, i can have a little drinkypoo after? ? How long since your surgery?

I tried some more clothes on from my stash today. My pants are all too loose in the butt and legs but tight in the waist! Frustrating cuz I have alot of size 20s that I could wear if waist wasnt tight! I can button them but would be uncomfortable all day. Gotta do some sit ups or something. ;)

I'm having the same problem! I seem to be losing in a different way than I usually do. My pants are all saggy in the butt & thighs but the waist is snug. I'm a pear shape vs apple so this isn't how it usually goes.

Has anyone else in the April Group noticed their weight loss slow to maybe a pound or two per week within the last month?

I'm lucky if I lose a lb every week or 2. I wanted to lose 10 this month before my bday..not happening. I'm down barely 2 this month. Trying to look at the measurements but its hard to stay focused with the scales not moving.

Yes. I'm crawling at an average of 1-2lbs a week. I'm OK with it, I like the slow and steady. As long as there is no gain, I'm happy.

I was told no alcohol for six months. Halfway there! Lol I had a few sips of sangria last week actually. Didn't do anything to me but I was afraid to push it and have more.

When I was 1st post op I wasn't hungry and would even forget to eat. Now it's not so much I feel hungry but feel a weird almost hollow feeling. I really don't want anything tho. Nothing really at all seems to sound good or appealing to me. Wondered if it was just me. I eat..but it's only cause its more or less what I have to do. I don't want to slow my metabolism down by not eating but no matter the diff things I keep trying to feed my body I just don't care for anything. Am I the only one? Eating has no pleasure anymore..suppose that's good but it sucks I don't like anything.

I have only "craved" tacos. I am with you its not hunger but a hollow feeling.

I could care less if i eat. Nothing tastes good or my pouch doesnt like it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
